Painted late in the day in a lay-by on the Denbeigh moors, capturing the corpuscular rays of the sun. The heavy rain clouds sitting over the Carneddau add contrast to the light in the mid-ground and beyond the mountains to the sea. The painting is sympathetically framed with matching colours.
